Health and Safety

A Safe Learning Environment

The school building is very secure and all external doors can only be opened from the inside.  In the Foundation Unit, additional locks and high handles add to the security inside and padlocked gates ensure safety for the outside play areas.

In order to comply with safety regulations, pedestrians must access the school at the start and finish of the day through the 4 green gates around the perimeter.  All outside perimeter gates around the school are locked at 9.00am and, after this time, the only access to the school for pedestrians is through the main entrance.  All visitors must gain access through the main entrance via contact with the office staff.  Car park gates are closed at all times from 8.20am.  School vehicles must contact the main reception for access to the car park.

Out of school hours, the school has a comprehensive security and fire alarm system.  The school has CCTV cameras on all external doors and playground areas.  Many areas within school benefit from this additional security.

Dogs are not allowed on school premises and should not be exercised on the school playing fields.  Fouling of these playing areas presents a serious health hazard to the children.

As a health promoting school, we have a NO SMOKING policy on the school grounds; this includes electronic cigarettes.
